Activities and Services

Art Class

Art is at the root of the Reggio style of teaching.  It enables children to explore & experiment with many different materials and allows them to be creative, as well as work at their own pace.  The goal is for the child to build confidence while constructing their own knowledge of art.  It’s the process that matters, not the product.  We welcome you to visit our blog and see some of our creations & activities.

Gardening and Living Sciences

We were participants of the Appalachian Sustainable Development's Grow Your Own Project. We have taken that experience and knowledge and are continuing our goals of being a self-sustaining school. The children actively participate in each phase of our community garden - from planning what we will plant to daily garden maintenance and harvesting. Children are encouraged not only to share our produce with their families, but to eat what we grow here at school.

Music Together

We are a qualified provider of the licensed Music Together pre-school program. We have weekly music classes for every age group. Music supports growth & learning in many different developmental areas including language, socio-emotional, cognitive, physical, and their approach to learning.

Little Free Library

Open to the public! Take a book, leave a book. Ideally, books on parenting for grown-ups and children's books - please no language, violence, or other obscenities. Our little free library was the idea of one of our school-age children back in the summer of 2017.

Miss Amy's "Clubhouse Kids" organized the idea and we gathered what we would need to build it. With a little assistance with certain tools, they put it together and decided upon the location. It was put into place and ready for launch on 10/25/2017.

Field Trips

We love to explore our community!  We also go on walks around the neighborhood. Sometimes we see a play at the Barter Theater. We love to visit our local Farmer's Market and buy a few things to snack on or even sell some of our own vegetables/produce that we grow. We go caroling and trick-or-treating in our neighborhood. It's always fun when we check in on our friends at the Art's Depot and William King Art Center.
